Recreational Facilities and Programs

Forest
Lakes abounds with recreational opportunities, including two large
swimming pools (North and South), 10 tennis courts (8 lighted), two
outdoor basketball courts, a fitness center, two recreation fields,
a sand
volleyball court, multi-purpose field, and
miles of paved and
unpaved trails.
These facilities are open to all residents and their guests (pool
requires guest fee). To use the pool, tennis courts, and
fitness center you must first fill out this
resident information form.
See below for information about all the recreational programs Forest
Lakes offers its residents.
Want an exercise class close to home, with your neighbors and lots
of fun? There are several great classes you can join. For Senior
Fitness, On the Ball, and Building Better Bodies for Women, contact
personal trainer Patty Mouring at 806-8408 to get started. For the
Strength and Conditioning class, contact ACE certified personal
trainer Randi Marshall at 960-1168 or email her at srmarshall31 @
embarqmail.com. The 8 week session begins September 8th. Cost is
$80 for 1 time per week and $128 for 2 times per week. An exercise
ball is required. 5lb weights are optional. Look for Randi’s LEVEL
II Strength and Conditioning coming soon!

levels, ages, sizes and those with special needs are welcome. Tech and
Flow I – Moderate flow of yoga poses concentrating on alignment and
technique. Helps with balance, concentration, flexibility, and overall
well-being. Tech and Flow II – A continuation of Tech and Flow I with
more balance work and a longer time in the poses. Helps deep core
training and further development of balance and concentration. Yoga with
a Stability Ball - A mixture of aerobics and supported yoga poses. Full
workout.
*Gift certificates are always available.

**Family Yoga is a new offering by current member request. Please
see the website for details. At least one parent accompanies
their own children. Parents come free if at least one family

National Academy of Sports Medicine certified personal
trainer Linda Hobson is offering classes designed specifically
for those with arthritis. The scientifically based program helps
reduce pain and stiffness, improve mobility, muscle strength and
functional ability. The 8 week session starts Tuesday, January
12th and will be on Tuesdays and
Thursdays from 11:00am - 12:00noon. The cost for the 8 week session
is $65 meeting one time per week or $100
for twice a week. A seated program is also being offered
from 12:30pm -1:30pm for those with a more limited mobility. Gift
certificates available - give the gift of improved health. For

certified with the Virginia Chapter of the Arthritis Foundation.

Pool, Pavilion, and
Poolhouse Rental
The North Pool, Poolhouse, and Pavilion next to it are
available for residents to rent for parties and other
occasions. These are great facilities for your next birthday
party or other celebration. Here is the
rental contract form for the
pavilion and poolhouse. Please call the FLCA office

Lessons: A full range of tennis lessons is
offered to
residents through the Forest Lakes Tennis
Academy. For more information, contact

of Men's and
Women's USTA tennis teams during the spring. Contact Brad

Tennis League: Resident John Oliver also runs a
Forest Lakes Progressive Tennis League for men that starts in

Here are
the current field reservations. Priority for use
of the fields is: 1. Youth athletic team with a Forest Lakes
resident as Head Coach, 2. Youth athletic team with a
resident as Assistant Coach (must be listed on official team
roster), 3. Youth athletic team with a resident as one of
the parents, 4. Adult athletic team with a resident as a
player or coach.
Fields will be closed during damp
conditions. Please do not use the fields when they are
damp, as it tears them up.
Nia is a fun-fitness fusion combining movements from Yoga,
TaiChi, Taikwondo, Aikido, Jazz Dance, Modern Dance and other
movement forms. Nia delivers a safe, effective, grounded
cardiovascular workout. Friday's NIA class is offered for
both beginners and seniors. Your first class is FREE of
charge! Join Antje Waxman, a certified Nia instructor and
experience the pleasure and joy of Nia. If you like to move
and have fun, this is the place to be. You don't have to be
fit - every fitness level is welcomed. NOTE: There will be no
classes held on December 25th or January 1st! Remember, the
first class is complimentary and each class thereafter is $8.

Taekwondo and Self-defense classes are offered
for kids, teenagers and adults. Please contact the
instructor should you be interested in any of our
programs. Kyo Sah Nim (instructor) Cole is a
certified Jidokwan Taekwondo instructor. New
students can join in anytime, with NO contract OR

Forest

Lakes
offers low-traffic residential streets, miles of
paved paths, as well as unpaved trails
for road and mountain biking. In addition, the area has
numerous bike and racing clubs (
Charlottesville
Bike Club,
Charlottesville Racing Club,
Charlottesville Area Mountain Bike Club) offering regular
group rides throughout the spring, summer, and fall. There
are also several bike tours in the area, including the Tour de
Greene, Tour de Madison, and the MS 150.
Here are some local road bike routes, along with information
about a Monday/Wednesday group ride.
