Attention parents of new swimmers:

Please enroll in the TROPICAL STORMS program for all 4 year olds (by June 1) and new swimmers 5-6 years old who are not able to swim 25 meters (one pool length) solo and nonstop in less than two minutes.

Swimmer Eligibility

Participation on the FLST is restricted to Forest Lake residents and FLCA members in good standing.  The FLST will screen registrants for compliance and submit to FLCA a list of its registrants and their addresses on the 1st day of practice.  If FLCA finds any swimmer on this list who appears not to be a resident of Forest Lakes or a FLCA member, it will promptly notify FLST in writing, and  FLST must provide proof of that swimmer’s FLCA residency or membership to FLCA within five (5) days or the swimmer must be suspended from the team.  FLST shall notify FLCA within seven (7) days of any new swimmers who register after FLST provides its roster to FLCA, and those new swimmers are also subject to this residency/membership verification process. 

 

The Jefferson Swim League (JSL) requires a swimmer to be a member of one of the League teams and be no older than 18 years old on June 1st of the summer season nor have swum on a college level team. In addition, 18 year olds must still be in or have just finished high school. All young swimmers MUST be 5 years old by June 1, 2012 and be able to swim freestyle unassisted for 25 meters. 

 

Members who meet the above eligibility requirements of FLCA and the JSL shall be eligible for membership in FLST upon completion of the FLST Registration and payment of fees set by the FLST Executive Board, and agreement by each swimmer and parent to comply with and be subject to all applicable obligations (See Codes of Conduct).

 

FLST has further defined swimmer eligibility for the competitive HURRICANES team as being able to swim the 25 meter solo (unassisted and non-stop) swim in a time not to exceed 2 minutes. If the swimmer is not able to do this on day 1 of practice, they will be allowed additional time to master this by working with the Tropical Storms practice group.  These swimmers will comply with standards to move up that are defined in the Tropical Storms handbook.

 

There are programs for fitness and general conditioning within our community; the FLST does not retain on the roster those swimmers who do not participate in swim meets. Failure to participate in 1 of the first 3 meets, and 1 of the last 3 meets will result in the swimmer being moved to the inactive roster without possibility of registration refund.

After the season begins, Swim Team members who move outside of Forest Lakes and are no longer FLCA members but wish to complete the current season with Forest Lakes, may do so under the following conditions:  A prorated guest fee of $3.00/day for each day of practice and swim meet scheduled for the remainder of the season will be charged and paid directly to FLCA prior to continued participation by the swimmer.  A one-time payment by check made out to FLCA is required.

 

Instructions for 2012 Registration:

Online registration for FLST Hurricanes begins on Sunday, April 1st.   Tropical Storm registration will begin in Mid April.  The initial registration period and pricing structure will run from opening day (April 1st) of registration to May 11, 2012 @ 11:59 PM. 

Swimmer fees are:  One child: $150. Second child: $140.  Any additional children are $130 each.

 

Late registration period and pricing structure will run from May 12, 2012 to June 20, 2012.

One child: $160. Second child: $150. Any additional children are $140 each.

 

These fees include:

·         Team practice time "pool time"

·         Qualified Coaching Staff

·         Saturday Clinics

·         Team T-shirt and Team swim cap

·         JSL registration fees and JSL team heat sheet ad for championship meet

·         Food concession support 

·         Spirit events (i.e., Thursday Fun Day games)

·         End of season trophy and awards

·         All online registration processing fees

·         End of year coaches gift

·         Team Insurance

             

All registrants must read, complete, and/or return the necessary documents before the first pre-season practice on May 21 in order to guarantee your registration.  All swimmers must be registered, all documents read and signed and all registration fees paid in full at least one week before any meet. 

 

To register for the FLST HURRICANES and/or TROPICAL STORMS, please click the link following these instructions and follow the instructions on the online registration web site. Returning swim families will have an existing account profile in the system that can be accessed. New families registering will need to first create an account profile.

  

 Volunteer position preference selection is at the end of the online registration process.  Parents are expected to participate since It takes a large number of parent volunteers to run a swim meet.

There are check-off sections during the online registration process indicating you have read and understand all the policies and guidelines set forth for the Forest Lakes Hurricanes Swim Team. 

 

Print, Sign and Return the FLST Sports Participant Waiver and Release form for each registered swimmer. (i.e. 2 children = 2 forms)

 

Please reference your swimmer’s name where requested.

Each form must be signed by a parent or legal guardian.

 

Completed forms must be returned prior to the first swim practice.

Please deliver to the FLST mailbox at 1650 Ashwood Blvd. OR Hand deliver at the parent meeting in May.
