ABOUT OUR COACHES

John Nelson - Head Coach; Lead Coach 13-18 Age Group
 John returns to FLST for the third year and his second as Head coach after
leading one of the most successful seasons in FLST history. John has a strong
background in coaching, including both full-time and part-time coaching in
the Charlottesville
area for several years. He joined the Piedmont YMCA/CYAC coaching
staff in September 2010, and he previously served as head coach of the
Heidelberg Sea Lions in Heidelberg,
Germany. John
also serves as the assistant coach for the Albemarle High School
swim team.

Kiara Franco - Assistant Coach; Lead Coach 5-6 and 7-8 Age Groups; Lead
Coach, FLST Tropical Storms
 This will be Kiara's
13th summer with Forest Lakes Swim Team, and her 5th year of coaching. While
in high school Kiara swam for the Virginia Gators
and for Albemarle
High School, and she
was a captain of both teams in her senior year. She is currently attending
Virginia Tech, majoring in Biology and Psychology while minoring
in Medicine and Society. Kiara plans on attending Medical School after graduating. Although Kiara gave up competitive swimming when she got to college,
she fell in love with water polo and is a captain of the Virginia Tech team. Kiara says she can’t wait for the 2012 Hurricane
season!

Christine Pajewski -
Assistant Coach; Lead Coach 11-12 Age Group
 Christine is in her fifth year
coaching for Forest Lakes Swim Team and her second as lead coach for the
11-12 age group. She currently attends the University of Virginia as a rising third year
majoring in Kinesiology with a concentration in sports medicine. In addition
to swimming for eleven years on the Forest Lakes Swim Team, Christine also
swam for Albemarle
High School and the
Virginia Gators swim programs. At the University, she is the incoming
president for the club water polo team, is a member of Class Council,
participates in community service projects through Madison House, and is the
vice president of recruitment for Alpha Chi Omega. Christine is looking
forward to another exciting and successful season with FLST. Go Hurricanes!

Hannah Davis - Assistant
Coach; Lead Coach 9-10 Age Group; Lead Coach for Saturday Clinics
 Hannah graduated from UVA in May
2011 with a B.A. degree in Biology and a minor in Environmental
Science. Hannah and her fellow 2011 UVA swim team graduates won four
consecutive ACC Championships and never lost a dual meet within the
conference. She was a member of the NCAA championships team all
four years and was NCAA All-American from 2009-2011. Hannah holds two
UVA school and ACC records as a member of the 200 Freestyle and 200 Medley
Relays. She joined the Piedmont YMCA/CYAC coaching staff in
November 2011, and is currently taking course to apply for nursing
graduate school in order to earn her Masters in Nursing. Hannah also
works for lululemon athletica,
a yoga-inspired athletic apparel company.
