Architectural Review Board
Architectural Review BoardThe ARB exists so that Forest Lakes can remain a special place to live.  Anyone wishing to make external changes to their property must, by law, meet the ARB Requirements and submit an application before initiating work.  The most common changes are fences, storage sheds, tree removal, and additions.  The application is then reviewed by the ARB.  The integrity and beauty of surrounding neighborhoods is maintained by adhering to the policies of the ARB.  Thanks for your cooperation!

The ARB consists of the following resident volunteers:
Architectural Review Process
1.  Read the Resident Guidelines
The FLCA Resident Guidelines, as well as other legally binding documents, are provided to homeowners prior to closing on a house.  Please read the guidelines and application requirements carefully before submitting your application.

2.  Submit an Application
Submit your application, along with a plat or site plan with dimensions and other supporting documentation, in the after-hours gold-plated drop slot to the left of the upper level doors of the Pavilion in Forest Lakes North.  Please allow two weeks for your application to be reviewed.  Incomplete information only delays your project.

3.  ARB Review
The Board will review your application and perform an on-site inspection.  You will be contacted if the ARB has questions or if there are problems with your request.

Note - the ARB enforces Forest Lakes guidelines.  But, it is up to you to make sure you meet County permit requirements.

4.  Approval or Disapproval
You will be notified via mail of the approval or disapproval of your request.  If you have questions about the disposition, please contact the ARB Chair, David Shifflet, shiffled@ charlottesville.org.
